Meet the Team

Nick MorrellNick Morrell

Nicholas graduated from the University of Leeds in 1973 and then entered a training contract with W J James & Co. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 and became a partner of the firm in October 1978. He acts for a wide range of clients, but specialises in advising larger partnerships and corporate clients in business development and tax related matters. Nicholas also advises on personal tax mitigation, including inheritance tax and trust planning.

Nicholas is treasurer of Cradoc Golf Club and Brecon Rotary Club, enjoys photography and foreign travel, and endures gardening.

Alun WilliamsAlun Williams

After graduating from the University of Bristol, Alun joined the Bristol office of Deloitte & Touche. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996 and joined W J James & Co in 1997, becoming a partner in 1998. Alun heads the audit department and looks after a broad range of clients including a number in the arts sector and publicly funded bodies, as well as clubs, legal professionals and estate agents.

In his spare time Alun enjoys walking, reading and current affairs.

Rebecca Saunders-JonesRebecca Saunders-Jones

Rebecca joined W J James & Co in 2000, after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cardiff. She was a regional prize winner in her final examinations and is a member of the Farming & Rural Business Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. Rebecca became a director in W J James in 2010 and heads up the Hay on Wye office. She looks after a varied portfolio of clients with a particular specialism and interest in agriculture.

Out of the office, Rebecca is a mum to 3 energetic sons, is involved in the running of the family farm, and says she especially enjoys working with the cattle, whether it be show or sales preparation. She is treasurer of her children's after-school club, which is run through the medium of Welsh, and remains committed to learning Welsh faster than her five year old son. Over the winter months, she can be found most Sunday mornings cheering for her sons, who play mini-rugby for the local rugby club.

Joanna RoderickJoanna Roderick

Joanna joined W J James & Co in October 2003 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005. She manages a varied portfolio of clients, a large proportion of which are farming businesses. She also deals with limited company accounts and audits and has significant experience of the accounts of clients in the construction industry.

In her spare time Joanna helps out on the family farm and enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter.

Robert GowarRobert Gowar

Robert has worked in the accountancy profession since 1970 and joined W J James & Co in December 1985. His work mainly involves accounts preparation and audits for incorporated businesses. He also assists the accounts departments of some of our larger clients with the preparation of their management accounts. He has a considerable amount of experience with Sage software and assists clients with setting up systems and dealing with any ongoing problems that occur. Robert also specialises in Solicitors' accounts, together with the associated annual reporting to the Solicitors' Regulation Authority.

In his spare time, Robert enjoys foreign travel, motoring, motorsport (especially Formula 1), DIY, gardening and is currently researching his family history.

Sian PriceSian Price

Sian has worked for W J James & Co for almost 30 years. Her principal duties are the preparation of VAT returns and year end accounts for a variety of clients ranging from sole traders to limited companies.

Outside of work she enjoys her garden and spending time with her four children.

Robert GowarLowri Keddle

Lowri joined W J James & Co in 2016. Studied for her ACCA exams at the University of Newport and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2005. She has experience in a wide variety of accounts and audit and takes a particular interest in limited companies.

Outside of work she enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her family and is often seen on a Saturday supporting her husband and son playing football.

Lucy MorganLucy Morgan

Lucy joined W J James & Co in 2007. She studied for her AAT at Hereford College of Technology, and gained her qualification in 2009. Lucy is mainly based in the Hay on Wye office where she prepares clients' accounts and VAT returns. She also helps out in the Brecon Office with payroll.

Outside of work Lucy enjoys shopping, socialising and reading.

Richard PriceRichard Price

Richard has been with W J James & Co for over fifty years and is therefore the longest serving member of the team. He now works on a part-time basis, from both the Brecon and the Hay on Wye office, dealing mainly with the accounts of sole traders and partnerships and their tax affairs. Richard comes from a farming background and this is an area in which he specialises.

Richard enjoys gardening and golf in his spare time.

Eirlys PughEirlys Pugh

Eirlys began working with W J James & Co in November 2012 as an accountant assistant whilst also studying for her AAT levels 3 & 4 at Neath Port Talbot College.

Outside of the office, Eirlys is a farmer's daughter and enjoys helping out on the farm from time to time. Alsongside this she also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Adam EvansAdam Evans - Accounts Assistant

Adam began working with W J James & Co in May 2014 after studying Accountancy and Finance at the University of Glamorgan and graduating in 2013.

Outside of work, he is a retained firefighter and also enjoys spending time with his two sons. Adam is a fanatical sports fan and plays rugby for his local team, alongside this, he also enjoys using technology and socialising with friends.

Tom PassmoreTom Passmore - Accounts Assistant

Tom is a farmers son and keen horseman,. He gained a BSc (hons) in Animal Production Science from Leeds University before taking a full time role as managing partner of his and his sisters equestrian centre in the Llanthony Valley. An interest in rural business and accounts led him to begin work at WJ James & Co in 2016, as an accounts assistant. He is based in our Hay on Wye office.

Tom still breeds and produces sport horses and is regularly out competing in eventing, dressage and show jumping.

Emily LewisEmily Lewis - Accounts Assistant

Emily joined WJ James & Co in April 2017. She is currently studying AAT at Brecon college. Emily is based at the Hay on Wye office where she prepares client accounts and VAT returns. Outside of work Emily works part-time for her local pub, enjoys socialising, DIY and spending time with her family.

Lynsey CardellLynsey Cardell

Lynsey joined W J James & Co in the summer of 2014 as the new payroll manager. Situated in Brecon her main responsibility is making sure all of the clients have their payroll completed to their specific deadlines and to a consistently high standard.

Outside of work, Lynsey enjoys walking her dog and gardening.

Alison WilliamsAlison Williams

Alison has over 30 years' experience of accounting and administration systems; she has held a wide variety of accounting roles in a range of Company types and sizes, from Public Houses to Government Departments and International Companies. Alison has worked with many different software packages but prefers Sage and has been using it since the early 1990's.

Out of the office, Alison enjoys Bridge and has an interest in amateur genealogy; she also continues the traditional crafts of knitting and weaving.

Cath AlfordCath Alford

Cath joined W J James & Co in October 2005. Her duties include clerical work, answering the telephone, greeting clients and general administrative work.

Outside of work Cath helps out on the family farm and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Marion LloydMarion Lloyd

Marion's duties include word processing and responsibility for day-to-day office "housekeeping" and administration.

Outside work Marion and her husband breed beagles. Alongside this she also enjoys walking, reading, sewing, crafts and spending time with her granddaughter.
